"Cook and Freeman Fish Win"

CURTIS, MI - "Team Tahquamenon" keeps rolling along in the Upper Peninsula's Division #20 of the National Bass Anglers Association Wednesday Night Team Bass Tournament Series, notching another victory on June 24th, 2009, while fishing on South Manistique Lake.

One half of the team, Glenn "Casey" Cook of Newberry, was forced to find another partner as Jake Lakosky was attending a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park. 13 year old Tyler Freeman of Engadine, who someday wishes to fish on the pro circuit, got his chance to step into a Ranger Boat and show what he had. Tyler caught the first two fish of the event, winning the "Big Bass" pot with a 2 pound 7 ounce smallmouth, and Cook finished out the five-fish limit that totaled 10 lbs. 6 oz. "Tyler had a great time and I think he was more thrilled with the boat ride than anything else! Then he realized that he had helped win his first bass tournament and now I think he's really hooked!  His mom and dad were at the weigh-in taking pictures and you couldn't wipe the smile of his face, "Cook said after claiming the top prize. "It's always great to get the kids involved because they're the ones that will continue the sport in the years to come. Tyler's a good stick and will be someone to reckon with in the future out on the water."

Cook and Freeman tossed Snack Daddy Pro Tubes on 1/4 ounce Cooker Jigs and Snack Daddy Snack Stix Wacky Worms to fool their bass in the water 4 to 8 feet deep.

Runners-up were the team of Rich Blank and Joni Davis of Curtis. The pair combined for a five-fish limit that pushed the scales to 8 pounds, 14 ounces.
