I am sad to announce this Aerie has closed. The charter was pulled in January 2010.
Thank you to those who supported Aerie 4483 and
for those who put their heart into trying to make this succeed.

Fraternal Order of Eagles

Gould City Aerie #4483
“Teamwork makes the difference.”

Eagles are People helping People.

NEWSLETTER

A first step in improving organizational development or structure is to ask.
What does the Aerie want? What does it need?
What do our members want?

We need to take time to look at the wants
and needs of our members.

Then we have to value analyze these wants and needs.
We have to set up priorities.
The first responsibility on an Eagle leader is to set goals, to decide on the destination.

Set your goals in terms of the wants and needs
of your members
and to attract and hold new members.

Make your goals challenging, but not beyond reality or chance of attainment.

Announce your goals, inviting members, all of them, to help you reach them.

Cover all the bases, with goals to increase the membership, add new activities,
increase family participation and support our Eagle charities.

Set long range goals for the year, but subdivide them into intermediate goals for a season and short range goals for the next month.

Establish a time table and keep members informed of progress toward the goals.

Setting goals gets things moving.
It injects enthusiasm and direction into your aerie’s efforts, programs and activities.

It injects enthusiasm and direction into your aerie’s efforts, programs and activities.

Goals, whether achieved or not, direct and channel
resources and energies toward specific objectives.

TEAMWORK: We have to have numbers of people and they have to work together as a team.

Teamwork means coordinated action, by a cooperative group, working together for a common goal, eagle team member, contributing, and all cooperating to reach their goal.

Teamwork begins with each member of the team playing his
position on the team and playing it well.

Whether its sports or at the Eagles, your team won’t win many ball games,
if the shortstop spends his time shouting at
the center fielder.
Fielding his own position is the beginning.

But teamwork requires cooperation.
Team members work together as a team to win.

Without the willingness to work together
and function as a team, it isn’t a team at all.
Teamwork requires a shared will to win, a shared determination to reach the goal.

The will to win is the most powerful trust you can give to a team’s performance on the field.

To strengthen the spirit of teamwork, the teams manager…picks good players…
sets the goal…allocates responsibilities…maintains communication…
set time tables…reviews progress…coordinates activities…fields a winning team.
A club leader is not to go at it alone.
The leader’s job is to involve others, to get the jobs done by and with other people.

Leaders accomplish objectives with the help of others.

An effective leader needs to stimulate the group toward meaningful goals and to involve others to reach them.

Good leaders are good talent scouts. That scouting for talent starts with finding out what the expectations of a new or present member are.

Interviewing prospective members is one opportunity to find out what Eagle programs and Aerie activities are of interest to the new recruit. Have him indicate the committee on which he would like to serve. Appoint him to it. “Give them something to do that they like to do.”
That’s the key to getting involvement and participation by your members, new or old.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch,
a smile, a kind word, a listening ear,
an honest compliment,

all of which have the potential
to turn a life around."
