The
Luce County Community Resource & Recreation Center (LCCR&R) summer hours will be 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday thru Friday.
Fun activities will be done daily. Free breakfast is from 8:00am to 10:00am, and Free lunch is from 12 noon to 1:00pm. The
LCCR&R is located in Downtown Newberry, across from the IGA. (They are in the same building as the Senior Center).
Salvation Army Western Michigan Northern
Emergency disaster Training will be held on July 2nd & 3rd at the Comfort Inn in Newberry. The training
will cover Intro to Salvation Army Emergency disaster training on July 2nd from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Food Safety
Class on July 2nd from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Incident Command training July 3rd from 8:30am to 4:00pm. To
register call Mary Archambeau at 293-3729, Karen Hanton at 989-459-3433, or James Warfield at 616-459-3433.
Upper
Peninsula Single Distric 10 Lions Club is collecting used computer ink cartridges (except Epson) to help raise money for the
2008 Curtis Independence Day parade. Cartridges may be placed in designated boxes at the Fish and Hunt Shop, Curtis Elementary,
Manistique Lakes Clinic, State Savings Bank in Curtis, Naubinway and Manistique, Jack's Supervalue in Manistique, Newberry
High School and First National Bank in Newberry. FMI call Rich at 586-6194.
The Cancer Support Group meets on the
second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. The meetings are held at the Webber and Dever Offices in
the basement of the Pathways building in Newberry.
The Tahquamenon Valley Cruisers are
currently looking for vendors and crafters for the TVC Car Show to be held on Saturday, July 26. If you would like more information
please call 293-3816.

Library is accepting donations for the annual Used Book Sale. The Sale will be July 4th at the Naubinway Pavilion 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. all sales are by donation.
FRIDAY, JULY 4th
The Newberry Independence Day Parade will start at 10:30am. The
Theme for this year’s parade is “The Fire is gone and the Spirit lives on” Parade line up starts at the
American Legion on East Victory Way. Following the Parade will be the Kiwanis’s Chicken BBQ at the American Legion and
the Newberry Community Appreciation Day, at the Tahquamenon Area School. They will have arts and crafts, Inflatable’s
and games for the kids, the Mason’s Child Identification program , Jim Dwyer’s Local historic photos, and lots
of food.
The
Alumni & Friends Variety Show Fundraiser will take place in the Bystrom Auditorium, located in the Newberry High School
at 7:00pm.
The
2nd Annual Hulbert Music Fest at the American Legion in Hulbert will be taking place with music from 12 noon to
4:00pm and a Whitefish Dinner for $9.00 will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, there will be more music to follow. The
Lounge will also be open.
SATURDAY, JULY 5th
The Hulbert Independence Day Parade will start at 11:30 am at the
Legion parking lot. There will be more music as the 2nd Annual Hulbert Music Fest continues, from 12 noon to close.
There will be a horseshoe tournament at 2:0pm the cost is $5.00 to enter. Then from 3:00pm to 6:00pm there will be a chicken
dinner the cost is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for 12 and under.
SUNDAY,
JULY 6th The Biggest Little
Town Parade in Curtis will start at 12 noon. The Parade Theme this year is “Serving Our Community”. Parade Line
up starts at 11:30am on Sand Town Rd. There will be floats, marching bands, and bands. There will be arts & Craft booths
on the grounds starting at 10:00am. The Lions famous Chicken BBQ with Trimmings will be at 11:00am a half chicken is $8.00
and a quarter chicken is $6.00. The Curtis Chamber Food & Refreshment tent will be on the grounds. The Curtis Women’s
Club will have baked goods for sale. There will be an inflatable slide, rock climbing and tons of fun games on the grounds.
The Hulbert American Legion will have a Breakfast at the Hulbert Town hall from 8:00am
to 11:00am. They will be serving waffles with strawberries, and Gravy with biscuits. The cost is $6.00.
